Bioinformatics training

CLC bio's training in bioinformatics is always customized to fit the individual needs of our customers. We wish to give the participants of the course more knowledge about the topics which are relevant to them.

"Knowledge" in this context refers both to the theoretical background (e.g. knowing what an algorithm does) to the practical hands-on experience which can be directly transferred to the participant's work tasks (e.g. knowing how to use an algorithm).

The course is organized as a workshop alternating between presentation of theoretical concepts by the teacher, and practical exercises performed by the participants under supervision of the teacher.

At the bottom of this page you can download a pdf file describing a general concept which is used as basis for customizing the course. The lessons shown are meant as examples of what the topics could be.

Preparation

Some weeks before the course, we determine the topics of the course in collaboration with the customer. We suggest to make an internal collection of ideas for topics among the people who are going to attend the course, so that we can organize a course with relevance to everybody. These ideas do not need to be phrased as bioinformatics concepts - they could be descriptions of the kind of scenarios where more bioinformatics knowledge is needed.

As part of the preparation process, we discuss if we should prepare background reading material for the participants.

The preparation is also used by CLC bio to make sure we send a teacher with a specialized, high scientific knowledge of the topics covered by the course.

Evaluation

Each participant will get a diploma for attending the course with a description of the topics covered.
